HDDCF records Rs 390 crore turnover

Chandigarh, (UNI) The Hayana Dairy Development Co-operative Federation (HDDCF) has achieved a record turnover of Rs 390 crore, with a 90 per cent increase in net profit.

The Federation has registered an increase in net profit from Rs 84.15 lakh last year to 160 lakh this year, despite making a repayment of Rs 5.50 crore to the National Dairy Development Board, Managing Director Devender Singh said today.

The total amount paid to farmers was Rs 185 crore, on an average price of Rs 12.60 per kg milk.

The total fluid milk sale for the year 2005-06 was 2.71 lakh lts per day on an average, registering an increase of Rs 32.2 per cent over the last year, he said.

The HDDFC got approved schemes worth Rs 14.5 crore from the Centre, which was the highest amount given to any milk federation in the entire country.

Besides, it received a sanction of Rs 10 crore assistance to wipe out the cumulative cash losses of milk unions in Jind and Kurukshetra.

Dacoits waylay truck, rob occupants

Hubli, May 22 (UNI) A four-member gang waylaid a truck on Pune-Bangalore national highway around midnight last night and robbed its occupants of Rs 93,000 cash and two mobile phones. Police said the truck driver and cleaner were on their way to Chikmagalur from Hubli after selling scrap when the gang chased the truck in their jeep, waylaid it near Shiggaon in Haveri district and committed the crime after assaulting them. Karjol makes surprise visit at petrol bunks

Hubli, May 22 (UNI) Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Karjol today paid surprise visits to two petrol bunks in the city and checked the purity, density and temperature of petrol. The minister personally dipped blotting papers in the petrol to check its purity and later ordered the officials to send the samples to laboratory for analysis. UNI MNP RG GM1801.....

Petrol pump looted

Pusa, May 22 (UNI) Criminals looted Rs. three lakhs from a petrol filling station in broad daylight at Mathurapur in Samastipur today. Police said that motorcycle borne criminals shot and injured the cashier and escaped in two motorcycles with the cash. The injured cashier was shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital in critical condition and efforts were on to nab the criminals, police added. UNI XC-BNG PL RD 1354.....
