French delegation in India

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) A 30-strong French delegation comprising of MPs and Defence Ministry officials have arrived in the country for an annual training session to acquire a better overall vision of international issues.

The delegation, which includes representatives from the Foreign and Home Ministries, will attend a series of seminars and conferences during their 6-day stay in India, according to the French Embassy here.

The delegation, which arrived on May 19, have been interacting with people from different walks of life, the embassy said.

Among the seminars organised during the occasion are those focusing on topics like 'Relations between France and India' where French Ambassador Dominique Girard will be a speaker, 'EU- India Relations', 'Relations with the United States' and 'Position of India in the world'.

Quake of 3.7 magnitude in J&K; no loss reported

Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) An earthquake of slight intensity occurred in Jammu and Kashmir today, Met office said. It said the quake, measuring 3.7 on the richter scale, occurred at 1401 hrs this afternoon. It was epicentred at 34.3 degree North and 73.7 degree East near the Indo-Pakistan border. State to pay study expenses for exam toppers

Chennai, May 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced that the Government would bear higher education expenses of state and district toppers in the Plus Two examination. Parliament approves Small and Medium Enterprises Development Bill

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Parliamentary approval was today accorded to the Small-Micro and Medium Enterprises Development Bill, 2006 that seeks to protect small and tiny sector industries with the Rajya Sabha adopting the measure as passed already by the Lok Sabha.
