EMC unveils strategy for Indian market

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) EMC Corporation, a leading information and management storage provider, today announced their strategies for capturing the ever growing Indian mid tier market, with the launch of 12 new hardware and software products in the country.

''EMC is showing tremendous momentum in India. We have been concentrating in the past few years on growing the automated network storage market in the country and launching most comprehensive storage products and solutions. Now we have come up with 12 new products including the all new CLARiiON Ultra Scale architecture and the CX3 series,'' EMC India and SAARC President Manoj Chugh told reporters here.

The CLARiiON Ultra Scale architecture is the storage industry's first available platform with full end-to-end 4 gigabyt-per-second (Gb/s) Fibre Channel technology with 45 patents pending.

The new architecture allows customers to upgrade from prior generations of CLARiiON, run existing management and protection software and scale single system capacity and performance up to 239 terabytes (TBs).

It simultaneously supports high-speed 2 and 4Gb/s Fibre Channel disk drives as well as high-capacity 2Gb/s Low Cost Fibre Channel (LC/FC) disk drives for maximum flexibility and to enable the consolidation of multiple information and storage tiers onto a single array.

The company also announced strengthening of its channel partner program and the opening of its two new offices in Kolkata and Chennai taking its total to 5. They also have opened two new spare and logistic centers in the country.

On a poser on the customer base Mr Chugh said, ''We have over 350 customers in 2006 spread across different sectors including Telecom, Manufacturing, Technology and Financial sectors. Some of the leading companies like Bharti, Hutchison Group, Tata Teleservices, Mahindra and Mahindra, ICICI Bank and Wipro are our customers.'' The company has 50 partners as part of their 'Velocity Partner Programme' including companies like Tata Elxsi, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Infosystems, and Wipro Infotech, spread across 30 cities, with Redington being its sole distributor.

EMC had recently announced the lauch of EMC Academy Programme (EAP) in India, which is aimed at developing a resource pool of skilled information management and storage professionals in the country. As part of this programme the company has already signed up with 16 universities and expects to tie up with 50 universities by the end of this year.

Bollywood film editor urges Nitish govt to promote film industry

Patna, May 22 (UNI) Ranjeet Bahadur, who edited mega hit 'Chameli', today urged Bihar government to provide incentives to film producers and boost the state film industry. Moscow, May 22 (UNI) Eight servicemen, including two children, died in a fire that broke out in the dormitory of the Russian Airborne Troops hostel in the Shehelkovsky district early today. ''The fire broke out at an Airborne Troops hostel in the town of Medvezhyi Ozyora last night,'' a headquarters spokesman told Interfax news agency, adding that all victims of fire lived in the hostel. Koirala expands Cabinet in Nepal

Kathmandu, May 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today expanded his Cabinet, including some members from the three major parties of the seven-party alliance. There are 12 Ministers and six Minister of State in the 18-member Cabinet of the three major parties -- the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Nepali Congress Democratic.
