11 Express trains to be upgraded to Superfast trains

Bhubaneswar, May 22: Eleven Express trains running under the East Coast Railway (ECoR) division will be upgraded to Superfast trains soon.

A ECoR release issued here today said the Railway Ministry has decided to upgrade 8475/8476 Puri-New Delhi-Puri (Neelachal Express) via Tata, 8311/8312 Howrah- Sambalpur-Howrah(Ispat Express), 8413/8414 Bhubaneswar-Sambalpur-Bhhubaneswar Express, 8561/8562 Visakhapatnam-Nizamudini-Visakhapatnam link Express, 7007/7008 Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Godavari Express and 8007/8008 Puri-Howrah-Puri Express from July.

After upgradation to the status of super fast train the Puri-New Delhi-Puri(Neelachal Express), Howrah-Sambalpur-Howrah(Ispat Express) Bhubaneswar-Sambalpur-Bhubaneswar Express, Visakhapatnam Godavari Express and Puri-Howrah-Puri Express would be renumbered as 2875/2876, 2872/2871, 2893/2894, 2861/2862, 2727/2728 and 2837/2838 respectively.

Similarly 8003/8004 Howrah-Yashwantpur-Howrah Express and 8613/8614 Hatia-Yashwantpur-Hataia Express will be upgraded to superfast trains and will be renumbered as 2863/2864 and 2835/2836 from July 10.

The 5626/5625 Guwahati-Bangalore-Guwahati Express and 5638/5637 Guwahati-Secunderbad-Guwahati Express will also be upgraded along with the Ernakulam-Guwahati Express from July 4.

This apart the 7045/7046 Howrah-Hyderbad-Howrah East Coast Express will be soon renumbered as 8645/8646 from July.

Govt not discriminatory in sanction of rail lines: Velu

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The Government today assured in the Rajya Sabha that it was not discriminatory while deciding on extension of the rail network to the north-east region of the country. Responding to a Half-Hour Discussion in the House regarding the extension of rail lines in the north-eastern region, Minister of State for Railways R Velu assured member from Nagaland TR Zeliang that his state had not been discriminated against in the matter.....

Rs 552-crore Japanese loan for cleaning Ganga in Varanasi

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The Centre has finalised an agreement for Rs 552-crore loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for cleaning Ganga water in the holy city of Varanasi. On top of this amount, the Central Government has sought another Rs 1100 crore from the JBIC for cleaning river waters at Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad. Michael Schumacher visits German World Cup squad

GENEVA, May 22 (Reuters) Formula One driver Michael Schumacher visited Germany's World Cup squad at their training camp in Switzerland today.''I accepted the invitation gladly,'' said Schumacher, who lives in Switzerland and had lunch with his countrymen at their Geneva hotel.
