CPI(M) flays DU VC's alleged statement on seat increase

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Delhi unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) today condemned Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental for allegedly ruling out the possibility of increasing seats in the varsity for at least the next three years.

The VC's statement reflected the latest tactical posturing of anti-reservationists in the face of the centre's proposal to increase seats in institutes of higher education to protect the interest of general category students while implementing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs, CPI(M) Secretary P M S Grewal said in a statement.

It also represented obfuscation of facts regarding the potential of increasing seats in Delhi University, it added.

SIMI likely to be banned; UP against central move

Lucknow, May 22 (UNI) Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) is set to be banned shortly with the Centre issuing a show cause notice to the organisation. Bangalore, May 22 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), has ruled out enhancing the student strength beyond the planned intake for the next academic year.
