Court refuses bail to BPSC Chairman

Patna, May 22 (UNI) Special Vigilance Judge of Patna Ramniwash Prasad today rejected the regular bail petition of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Chairman Ram Singhasan Singh in a case related to irregularities committed in an examination.

The case was related to irregularities committed by BPSC in recomending of names of candidates for the post of grade two employees in Bihar Animal Husbandry Service.

Meanwhile, Mr Prasad refused to grant anticipatory bail to a doctor, Mahesh Chandra, in the case related to financial irregularities committed in the purchase of Eximer Laser Machine for eye department of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS).

In another case of forgery and corruption, the same designated judge turned down the anticipatory bail plea of two constables of Bihar police.

Suicide disrupts metro services

Kolkata, May 22 (UNI) Metro services in the city remained disrupted for more than an hour in the peak evening hours after a youth committed suicide at Mahatma Gandhi station today. Official sources said the incident took place when the youth jumped before a Tollygunge-bound train which was entering the station. As a result, train services on both lines remained suspended causing inconvenience to the home-bound people. Metro services resumed after the youth's body was removed.....

NJMC workers withdraw hunger strike

Barrackpore, May 22 (UNI) National Jute Mill Corporation workers today withdrew their eight-day long hunger strike at Titagarh mill in North 24 Parganas after police intervention. At least five workers, including a woman, resorted to strike demanding resumption of production in Khardah and Kennison jute mills and suspension of VRS from May 15.
