Three children injured in Kargil blast

Srinagar, May 22 : Three children were injured when a landmine exploded at Moradabagh in Drass sector in Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said a group of children were on way to hilltop with their cattles at Moradabagh when a landmine exploded, resulting in injuries to the three of them.

The three were admitted to Kargil hospital. However, one of the critically wounded was airlifted to Srinagar.

It is believed that the blast was caused by the landmine planted in the area during 1999 Kargil conflict when Pakistani intruders occupied a number of heights on the Line of Control (LOC).

The Ladakh region, including Kargil, has remained unaffected during the 15-year-long militancy in the Kashmir valley.
