Cool climes continue in Delhi, Temperature drops to 35.8 Deg C

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) With a cloud cover enveloping the Delhi skyline since morning, the pleasant climes, which characterised the weather in the capital for the whole of last week, continued today with the maximum temperature dropping to 35.8 degrees Celsius, nearly five degrees below normal.

With the minimum too being recorded at 23 degree Celsius, nearly four degrees below normal, its was another day of cool weather for the Delhites, who have been experiencing some pleasant weather over the last one week, after several weeks of scorching heat which saw day temperature hovering around 40 degrees.

The cool climes are likely to persist for another day or two with the weather office forecasting a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain and thundershowers accompanied by squall in some areas.

They have, however, predicted a rise in maximum temperature to 38 degree Celsius tomorrow.

A fresh burst of rainfall and squall which weathermen say are due to the influence of an upper air cyclonic system stationed over North Rajasthan and Southern Punjab, plummeted the mercury in the capital for the whole of last week, bringing tremendous relief for Delhites from scorching heat of previous weeks.

On Friday, squall with winds upto 62 kmph brought down temperature by eight degrees in the capital after early morning rains had lowered the mercury by two degrees.

This was followed by rain which lashed the national capital on Saturday evening. The rain brought the maximum temperature down to 37.6 degrees Celsius, about three degrees below recorded during this time of year, while the minimum was 22.1 degrees, five degrees below normal.
