Azad for all steps to improve sports infrastructure in J

Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has directed the authorities to take necessary steps to upgrade the sports infrastructure in the state's summer capital.

He said directions have already been issued to upgrade the Bakshi stadium, the Indoor stadium, the Youth hostel and other stadia to develop them on international standards.

Mr Azad said the youth of the state possessed great potential in all fields including sports and stressed the need for providing conducive atmosphere to them to exhibit their talent.

Hosting national and international events in the state would provide an opportunity to the youth to compete at all levels, he added.

''Youth is the backbone of the society and all agencies concerned have to play an important role in building a new culture of discipline and dedication among the youth by encouraging maximum activites in the state,'' the Chief Minister said.

He said in the modern education policy, co-curricular activities have great importance as it prepares students to face future challenges with more confidence.

Gold, silver crash in future trading

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Prices of gold and silver crashed in the future trading on poor speculative demand by bearish operators, traders at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) today said. Gold was quoted low at USD 645.30/646.50 per troy ounce, while silver was quoted low at USD 12.15/12.27 per troy ounce at the closing in the global markets, they added.
