Apang asks NEEPCO to abide by MoU

Itanagar, May 22 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has directed the authorities of North Eastern Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) to abide by the MOU and carry our social obligations in the state while executing various power projects. The chief minister, who held a brief discussion with NEEPCO general manager (civil) of Bichom Dam Complex I H Hazarika in West Kameng district yesterday, said that application of recruitment policy should be in accordance with the service rules of the state, which include fifty per cent reservation in the higher posts and cent per cent in grade four posts, informed official sources here today. Mr Apang stressed that in accordance with the MoU, contract works should be given to the local entrepreneurs except one which required absolute technical expertise that too, he said, should be done through regional, national or global tender. In hiring of vehicles, the local vehicles should be given priority as done by other undertakings in the state, which, the chief minister said, would help in generating employment opportunity among the local youths besides economic development of the entrepreneurs.

Chopra finishes tied 40th at the Colonial

SC refuses petition on submarine batteries purchase

New Delhi, May 22: The Supreme Court today refused to list a petition challenging the government decision to place an order for purchase of eight submarine batteries worth Rs eleven crore each without inviting tenders.A bench comprising Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat and Mr. Justice R V Raveendran today declined to list the matter during vacation, saying there was no urgency.The Court told the counsel of the petitioner that ''let the government go ahead and if there is something.....
