AP CM appeals Cong to stop lifting Telangana issue

Hyderabad, May 22: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to the Congress and Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS), leaders to stop making statements on Telangana issue.

Speaking to newspersons here, Dr Reddy said the Telangana issue was in the hands of the AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. 'It was ''meaningless'' that the leaders of the both Congress and TRS leaders were making statments on Telangana issue', he added.

Referring to the ensuing Panchayat polls in the state, the Chief Minister said the Congress would have no truck with the left and the TRS at local level in the elections. The District Congress Committees (DCC) would take a decision on the alliance with the TRS and Left in the ensuing localbody elections.

Earlier, Dr Reddy had conducted tele-conference with the DCC leaders and MLAs and directed t hem to prepare for Panchayat elections from his camp office.

China, Germany agree to no nuclear weapons for Iran

Music director gets Ghantasala Award

Vijayawada, May 22 : The Dilip Kumar Cultural Academy (DKCA) presented the 'Ghantasala Award' to well-known Film Music Director M S Viswanathan here last night. The award was presented to Mr Viswanathan by Senior Journalist Turlapati Kutambarao.The felicitation formed part of the 'Ghantasala Aradhanotsavam'.In his address, Mr Viswanathan said he was only a beginner and had a long way to go. Pirated "Da Vinci Code" hits China streets

Shanghai, May 22 : Bootleg DVDs of ''The Da Vinci Code'' were on sale all over Shanghai today, days after China pipped Cannes by hours with the world premier of the movie.Pirated DVD versions of both ''The Da Vinci Code'' and ''Mission Impossible 3'' were selling for 5 yuan each, but the workmanship was poor, as is usually the case for early pirated copies often made with hand-held camcorders in the cinema.One customer said he could see people walking.....
