Students take out a rally to protest against Reservation policy

Bangalore, May 14 (UNI) Students today took out a rally to protest against the Centre's proposed Reservation policy in the city today.

The rally began from Sajjanrao circle with about 300 students taking part in it. The proposed policy allows reservation to the students of OBCs in the government educational institutions.

Police detained five students during the rally following the inconvenience in the movement of traffic. Tension prevailed for a while after the incident.

The representatives of the students later submitted a memorandum to Governor T N Cheturvedi.

The detained students were later released, police said.

IMA-Mumbai demands judicial inquiry into ''police brutality''

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mumbai chapter has demanded a judicial inquiry into yesterday's lathicharge by the police on medical students protesting outside Raj Bhavan in South Mumbai. IMA-Mumbai spokesman Sunita Kshisagar told UNI that their demands included suspension and arrest of police officials who the lathicharge within 24 hours and a judicial inquiry into the incident. IMA-Mumbai threatens strike; demands action against police

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Indian Medical Association (IMA) today warned that it will be forced to go on a ''medical bandh'' in Mumbai if its demand for resignation or dismissal of Mumbai police Commissioner A N Roy and suspension and arrest of police personnel involved in yesterday's lathi charge, are not met.
