Youth nabbed on attempting to rape a British girl

Puri, May 12 (UNI) The Puri police have nabbed a youth within an hour of an attempt to rape a British girl on the sea beach here yesterday.

Puri Superintendent of Police Sanjib Kumar Panda, who presented the accused at a news conference here today, said Frere Scott Ezabella, a 20-year-old British girl was attacked by the youth while she was taking a sun-bath on the beach.

The accused identified as A Satish from Berhampur area tried to rape her. Mr Panda said the girl screamed and managed to pick up a pocket knife and compelled the accused to withdraw.

She also captured his photo in her mobile phone. The British girl later lodged a complaint with the sea-beach police station.

The incident occurred at about 1430 hours. Police swung into action on receiving the complaint and nabbed the culprit from the beach.

Satish has confessed to the crime, the SP said. Police later sent the girl for medical examination and the report was awaited, Mr Panda added.

JK High Court Division bench to hear sex racket case on Monday

Maximum temperature in Capital hovers around 41 degree

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) The Capital today experienced a maximum of 41.3 degree celsius, which was more than a degree above normal. However, the minimum temperature for the day was normal at 25.8 degrees. Also, maximum humidity for the day was 65 per cent, four points higher than yesterday, and a minimum of 30 per cent.
