Schneider to pilot test powerline carrier in India

Bangalore, May 12 (UNI) Schneider Electric will be implementing pilot projects to test powerline carrier to use power transmission lines as telecom carrier.

Schneider Electric's new CEO Jean Pascal Tricoire told newspersons here today that one project with a power utility had already commenced and another would be executed shortly.

He said the products developed for the purpose would be exported from India. Such carriers would provide cost effective solutions, he added.

Stating that the emerging economies were growing at 30 per cent with India alone recording more than 50 per cent growth, Mr Tricoire said last year the Indian subsidiary had a turnover of 120 million Euros. The company with over 95,000 employees worldwide had a turnover of 11.6 billion Euros last year, he added.

He said India was core to the Company's growth plan as it was not only a growing market, but also contributing significantly to the research and development, besides software development. The Global R and D centre located here with a strength of 400 would play a crucial role in future. Similarly the Software Development Centre in Delhi with a strength of 130 would also grow significantly, he added.

Mr Tricoire said the challenges ahead included increasing the Company's market share, setting up technological and commercial partnerships with local business and look for acquisitions at regional level.

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Delhi Police has issued prohibitory orders in and around the diplomatic enclave and courts here for a period of two months, starting May 17. Police Commissioner K K Paul, in an order, said it is necessary to take the measures as there are reports that processions and demonstrations are likely to be held in these areas which could cause obstruction to traffic, disturbance to public tranquility and threat to security......

JK High Court Division bench to hear sex racket case on Monday

Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today termed as ''fit to be treated as a public interest litigation (PIL)'', a petition on the sex racket filed by the Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) and referred it to the Chief Justice for appropriate action. Justice Hakim Imtiyaz, who heard the KBA counsel in the case, referred the petition to Chief Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan who in turn listed the case before a division.....
