'No difference of opinion over Cabinet expansion': Kumaraswamy

Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said there was no difference of opinion among the coalition partners Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Cabinet expansion issue.

''The legislators do not want expansion as works were not affected with the present cabinet strength. However, the date for expansion will be announced within two days,'' he added.

Mr Kumaraswamy was speaking to newsmen after participating in a function organised for presentation of the President Police Medal by the Governor T N Chaturvedi here.

Replying to a question, he said that ''the situation during Congress-JD(S) coalition government was different and we were raising objection for delay in cabinet expansion as developmental works had been affected at that time. But in the present government no work was hampered.'' When asked about a letter written by former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda, he said that ''he (Mr Gowda has written in the interest of the State and the content will be utilised for the betterment of the people.'' Myanmar hits out at US, Britain on NLD training

YANGON, May 9 (Reuters) Myanmar has accused the US and British embassies of violating diplomatic protocol by conducting free training courses for members of Aung San Suu Kyi's opposition party, a state newspaper said today. The New Light of Myanmar said junior leaders of the National League for Democracy (NLD) had studied English, computers and international relations at the embassies since last year. It said the training was illegal because the 1,000 dollars fees normally.....

No plan for Iran military strike, says UK's Beckett

LONDON, May 9 (Reuters) Britain's new Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said today no-one in the international community intended to take military action against Iran, but refused to describe such a prospect as ''inconceivable''. Work needed before UN resolution on Iran- Germany

Berlin, May 9: German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said today a number of questions must be resolved before major powers agree a draft UN Security Council resolution on Iran's nuclear programme.''We need to make sure we don't start something we cannot stop and which could get out of control afterwards,'' Steinmeier was quoted as saying in an interview with public television station ZDF.He said ''five or six questions are still open'' before a draft resolution could be concluded.....
