CET issue: Opposition leaders meet on May 10

Bangalore, May 8: A meeting of Leaders of Opposition of both the Legislative Houses in Karnataka has been convened on May ten to solve the Common Entrance Test (CET) tangle, Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy disclosed today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Government was ready to promulgate an ordinance if consensus prevailed at the meeting on various issues relating to CET. There was no change in the fee structure for this academic year, he added.

The draft rules of CET Bill were ready, the Minister said.

Bodies of pregnant woman, son found

Hardoi, May 8 (UNI) Police today recovered the body of a pregnant woman and her minor son in Mallawan area of the district. The deceased were identified as Guddi and her son Vishal. According to police, the woman's husband worked outside the district. However, one of their relatives identified as Devesh frequented her house and had also taken a loan of Rs 60,000 from Guddi. Rights body condemns NHRC's closure of Meghalaya shooting case

Shillong, May 8 (UNI) The Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) today condemned the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) decision to close the complaint pertaining to the death of 11 people in firing by security forces at Tura and Williamnagar on September 30 last.
