Yediyurappa to announce new industry policy soon

Bangalore, May 1: A new industry policy, incorporating various details, including providing infrastructural facilities, will be announced within a week, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced today.

Speaking to newspersons after returning from a tour of Germany, where he had participated in the Hannover Fair, he said that during the tour he had called on heads of various leading companies such as Audi and Eurocopter. The Chief Executive Officers of these companies had evinced keen interest in India in general and Bangalore in particular, he added.

He said the meetings at Munich culminated in a high-level summit with Bavarian Economy and External Affairs Minister Sinner and his officials.

The Deputy Chief Minister informed that he had invited Mr Sinner to Karnataka and sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the two most progressive regimes within the respective countries.

To a question, he said the meetings were highly successful and would lead to substantial investments in the weeks to come. The response was overwhelming and companies had assured to expand their operations and invest in new projects soon, he added.

19 bogies of goods train derails in Bihar state

Patna, May 1: Train services were affected on Quil-Jamalpur rail section of Malda division following derailment of 19 bogies of a goods train in between Abahaipur and Kajra railway stations.According to Eastern railways sources, the goods train loaded with stone chips was going from Pakur to Siwan this noon following which both UP and Down lines were blocked.Movement of several trains was suspended, while other trains were diverted. The trains, which were cancelled, included 3419 UP Bhagalpur-Muzaffarpur Janseva.....

Medha Patkar denies NBA run on foreign funds

New Delhi, May 1: Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar today strongly denied that the movement was being funded by foreign money and said affected families donate to meet its expenses.''International organisations are not giving any money to the NBA. They only support us as I have travelled to several countries talking about the issue,'' Ms Patkar told a media conference here after the Supreme Court today deferred till May 7 the next hearing on the Sardar Sarovar Dam......

Suryanarayana's second wife ready for DNA test

Hyderabad, May 1: A woman claiming to be the second wife of K Suryanarayana, who was beheaded by the Taliban militants in Afghanistan, today offered to subject her eight-month-old daughter to DNA test to prove the deceased telecommunication engineer the baby's father.After meeting the police seeking intervention for enabling her to attend 'her husband's' funeral, Ms Swapna said, ''I am ready for a DNA test on my baby to prove Mr Suryanarayana is her father.'' Ms Swapna said she married.....
