Uma fires broadside at Cong

Guna, MP, May 1 (UNI) Firebrand leader Uma Bharti, who formed the Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) after being expelled from the BJP, today alleged that Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress was toeing the line of the ruling BJP.

''That was the case when Mr Babulal Gaur was the Chief Minister and also now during Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan's tenure,'' she told newspersons.

Regarding doubts about breakaway leaders who formed parties, Ms Bharti said successful examples such as former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Andhra Pradesh's ex-chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha.

''On May 4, I will reach Rae Bareli and campaign against Congress President Sonia Gandhi. My party's objective is to work without damaging BJP ideology,'' she claimed.

Maintaining that she would never discuss with the press the BJ's RSS links, Ms Bharti said terrorism and the market economy were threatening India and refuge must be sought in nationalism.

The BJ's first endeavour will be to expand -- within two months -- to block level an organisation-forming process in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. We will contest every seat in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, she claimed.
