UGC sanctions 17 lakh for research project

Tirupati, May 1: University Grant Commission(UGC) has sanctioned Rs 17 lakh to Oriental Research Institute(ORI) of Sri Venkateswara Univeristy(SVU) for research project on Ramayana and devotional literature, here.

ORI sources said the first project was sanctioned to M Prabhakar Rao for comparative study of Ramayana written in four Dravidian languages with a grant of Rs 8.27 lakh.

The second research project has been awarded to C Govindaraju for comparative study of Vaishnava Bakthi Sahithyam(devotional literature) in Telegu, Tamil and Kannada, the sources added.

SC withdraws petition on reservation
