Soz, Bhim Singh condemn Doda killings

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today said the killing of 22 'innocent villagers' at Doda in Jammu and Kashmir by militants last night reflected the cowardice of those who are bent upon committing heinous crimes against humanity.

In a condolence message to state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Minister said every 'sane' person was with him in the fight against terrorism.

Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party Chief Bhim Singh appealed to all sections of people and political parties to jointly condemn the massacre by observing a bandh in Jammu tomorrow.

He also demanded a judicial inquiry into the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

VHP condemns killing of 22 Hindus in Jammu's Doda district

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Vishva Hindu Parishad today condemned the massacre of 22 Hindus in Jammu's Doda district and demanded immediate imposition of President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir in order to 'protect' the Hindus. ''Since militancy started in that state, more than 50,000 Hindus had been killed in a systematic 'ethnic cleansing','' a statement alleged. May Day rallies for better pay and working conditions

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Hundreds of workers participated in May Day rallies organised by labour unions in the capital today. JJ/slum dwellers to be relocated in Delhi

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Delhi cabinet today decided to temporarily shift slum dwellers from Yamuna river bed to 25 acres of land in Savada Ghevra near Nangloi in West Delhi. The decision follows an order of the Delhi High Court that the slum dwellers be removed and the polluted river be cleaned up. According to an official spokesman, the slum dwellers would be shifted to Savada Ghevra as a temporary measure. They would eventually.....
