Mirwaiz Hurriyat condemns Doda massacre; demands probe

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) The moderate Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today condemned the massacre of 22 Hindus in Doda district of Jammu region last night and demanded a probe by an independent body into the killings.

''Incidents like these occur whenever there is a forward movement in the peace and dialogue process,'' the Mirwaiz told reporters here.

He also demanded an impartial probe by an independent body into the Doda massacre.

''There is a need to expose all those who are behind such dastardly acts,'' the Hurriyat Chairman added.

Asked if the situation would go out of the hand if the Hurriyat's proposal of demilitarisation is accepted in view of today's massacre at Doda, the Mirwaiz said the process of withdrawaing troops, if implemented, would be carried out in a systematic manner and under proper mechanism.

Woman and her 2 children electrocuted

Shahjahanpur, May 1 (UNI) A woman and her two minor children were electrocuted in the Kotwali area of the district today. Police said the kids were playing in their house in Bijlipura area when they accidently came in contact with a livewire. Air Arabia launches Kochi flights

Kochi, May 1 (UNI) Air Arabia, the international low-cost airline based in the UAE, today launched its operations to Kochi as its third Indian destination. Heavy rush at Tirumala

Tirupati, May 1 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) introduced 'Mahalaghu Darshan' or distance darshan to cope up with the summer pilgrim rush. The TTD had already made some changes in the issue of cellar and VIP darshan tickets to avoid inconvenience to free darshan pilgrims waiting at the Vaikuntam queue complex. Yesterday, 70000 devotees had darshan at the main temple at Tirumala, sources said. Many pilgrims queued up for accomodation at central reception office (CRO).....
