Kashmiri migrants demand protection of temples

New Delhi, May 1: Various Kashmiri Pandit migrant leaders today urged the government to bring in a legislation for protection of Kashmiri Hindu monuments and religious places in the valley and the Shardapeeth in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

The migrant leaders, at a meeting here, decided to launch a united front--the J and K Displaced Persons United Front-- to press the government for redressal of their grievances and create conditions for their return to the valley.

The meeting rejected as ''unfeasible and injurious to the community'' any demand for a separate enclave for Kashmiri Pandits and said entire Kashmir was their homeland, front spokesperson Subodh Mukoo said.

Indore, Mar 15: Haryana Police has summoned a local bags shop owner and two others for questioning tomorrow in the February 18 terrorist attack on the Samjhauta Express, killing about 70 people and injuring 50.The owner Jenuddin's relative Hujra Shah and an employee Puran Thakur were arrested on Tuesday and taken away as suspects and for not cooperating with the investigation.Inspector-General Rajendra Kumar (Indore Range) confirmed that the trio, including employees Kadar Bhai and Munna, were summoned. Srinagar, Mar 15: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has now taken over all counter-insurgency operation from Border Security Force (BSF) in the entire Kashmir valley.With the induction of ten more batallions, the CRPF has taken over charge of all Counter Insurgency (CI) operations from BSF in the entire Kashmir valley, DIG CRPF for South Kashmir Nalin Prabhat told reporters after the last BSF batallion moved out today.He said ten battalions of the CRPF inducted took the charge.....

India, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13: India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts. Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries.
