Kashmiri migrants demand protection of temples


New Delhi, May 1: Various Kashmiri Pandit migrant leaders today urged the government to bring in a legislation for protection of Kashmiri Hindu monuments and religious places in the valley and the Shardapeeth in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

The migrant leaders, at a meeting here, decided to launch a united front--the J and K Displaced Persons United Front-- to press the government for redressal of their grievances and create conditions for their return to the valley.

The meeting rejected as ''unfeasible and injurious to the community'' any demand for a separate enclave for Kashmiri Pandits and said entire Kashmir was their homeland, front spokesperson Subodh Mukoo said.

India, Pak Auditors General discuss cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 13: India and Pakistan today agreed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the two countries in areas of public audit and accounts. Pakistan's Auditor General Mohammed Yunis Khan, currently on a five-day visit o India, met Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vijayendra Kaul and discussed with him ways to strengthen cooperation between the SAIs of the two countries. Mr Khan who arrived here yesterday, also met senior officials.....
