Karnataka to set up Cultural Authority

Mysore, May 1 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will set up Cultural Authority for overall development of the State's culture, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said today.

Speaking after inaugurating Basavajayanthi here, he said that the Authority will look after Temples, heritage structures and maintain monuments in the State.

He said that the government has already Rs 20 Crore has been allocated for the development of Basavakalyana.

Mr Yediyurappa said that State's first Women University in Bijapur would be christened as 'Akamahadevi University' and Gulbarga University would be named as 'Basaveshwara University'' after Cabinet approval.

Bangalore, May 01 (UNI) Following is the summary of observations recorded in weather office here at 0830 hrs today. Dry weather prevailed over the state. Maximum temperatures changed little over the state. They were above normal at most places being appreciably so at many places over south interior karnataka and above normal at a few places over coastal karnataka and north interior karnataka. 3 killed, 13 injured in road accident

Mandya, Apr 29 (UNI) Three persons were killed and 13 injured in a collision between a private bus and a car at Hosabudanur state highway, three km from here. Police said the car was proceeding to Mysore when the mishap occurred. While the deceased were inmates of the car, the injured were passengers of the bus, carrying a marriage party to Doddaballapur.
