Doda massacre: Tarigami demands high-level probe

Srinagar, May 1: CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today condemned in strongest terms the massacre of 22 Hindus in Kulhand village of Doda district in Jammu region and demanded a high-level probe into the barbaric incident to expose the anti-peace elements.

''Such dastardy and inhuman acts can never be justified and clearly demonstrates the mental frustration of such elements who are hell bent upon vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in the state,'' Mr Tarigami said in a statement here.

He also demanded a high-level probe into the barbaric incident to expose the ''anti-people and anti-peace elements''.

However, Mr Tarigami said the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan could not be derailed by such acts as it has the backing of millions of peace-loving people of the sub-continent.

''Such acts are aimed at breaking down the ongoing talks between the Government of India and the Kashmiri leadership. Therefore, there should be firm resolve to continue the dialogue process which would be a befitting answer to elements with huge vested interest,'' he added.
