Countrywide raids against firms misusing ISI mark

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Bureau of Indian Standards has conducted countrywide raids against companies misusing the ISI mark, a statement by the BIS said today.

In course of the 30 raids conducted throughout the country, various household products used by the common man were found to have misused the ISI mark, Mr Anant Dhul, Chief Vigilance officer of the BIS said.

Of this, six raids were conducted in Delhi. While M/S Shree Sai Minerals, which was found misusing the ISI mark on packaged drinking water under brand "Aqua Gold and Aqua Star", M/S Fast services was found misusing ISI mark on packaged drinking water under brand name "Aqua Safe". Others firms where raids were conducted were M/S Parth Cable industries, M/S Arihant cable company and Mr Narender Kothari whho were found misusing ISI amrk on PVC cables.

''By using such type of spurious household products, the safety and health of the consumer is a great risk. To save the consumers from this risk and to protect the brand value of the ISI mark, BIS has intensified regular nationwide raids,''Mr Dhul said.

Militants massacre 35 Hindus in Jammu

Doda, May 1 (UNI) At least 35 Hindus were killed and ten others injured by militants in separate incidents in the districts of Doda and Udhampur of Jammu region during the past 24 hours. The toll in yesterday's incident of Basant Garh in Udhampur district rose to 13 today with the recovery of nine more bodies from the upper reaches of Lolan Galla.
