BSF jawan arrested for daughter's rape

Ranchi, May 1 (UNI) A Border Security Force constable hailing from West Bengal, has been arrested on charges of allegedly raping his daughter here.

The 17-year-old victim, now undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, came with her father to appear for an engineering entrance test.

The accused, identified as R K Behra(45), was arrested yesterday following the complaint and remanded in judicial custody.

Police today said, both the accused and victim reached here on April 29 from North Dinajpur district in West Bengal, and stayed a hotel near the daily market.

The hotel staff took the girl to the hospital the next day as she fell unconscious while revealing her father's crime, the police said.

The girl had also tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide and is recuperating.

Countrywide raids against firms misusing ISI mark

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Bureau of Indian Standards has conducted countrywide raids against companies misusing the ISI mark, a statement by the BIS said today. Centre asks Guj govt to take steps to control Vadodara situation

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Centre today directed the Gujarat government to take steps to bring the communal situation under control in Vadodara district of the state. Home Secretary V K Duggal spoke to Gujarat chief secretary G Suba Rao and other officials to seek details of the incident.
