Kathmandu, May 1 (UNI) The officials at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been put on high alert to prevent possible escape of some ''blacklisted King-led cabinet members'' involved in suppressing the people's movement, media reports said here today.
Officials at the TIA, the only international air exit point, were given order to ban the departure of Vice chairman of King chaired cabinet Dr Tulsi Giri, home minister Kamal Thapa, a relative of the King Sarad Chandra Shah, information minister Srisha Shumsher Rana, Rameshnath Pandey and some others, Kathmandu Post said quoting an unnamed official as saying.
The officials had been asked to immediately inform higher authorities if they find ''blacklisted persons'' making it to the departure section at the airport, it said.
There is the demand and pressure on the seven-party allience (SPA) to take action against those involved in suppressing the people's movement.
While Mr Giri, Mr Thapa and Mr Rana served in the royal cabinet after the February first coup last year, Mr Shah is known as a prominent mastermind in suppressing the popular people's movement in 1990 in favour of the autocratic Panchayat regime, the paper reported.
Supporters of the Seven-party Alliance, civil society and professional organisations have also demanded strong action against those who suppressed the movement.
At least 19 persons were shot dead, more than 2,000 were injured and over 4,000 detained during the movement that forced the King to give up power and reinstate the House.
