Aurangabad villagers object to delimitation plan

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 1 (UNI) Villagers from Manjri and Siddhawadgaon, which presently fall in the Gangapur assembly segment, have strongly objected to the proposed inclusion of these villages in the Vaijapur assembly constituency for geographical reasons.

The villagers, through ''gramsabhas'', have urged the revenue authorities to consider their difficulties before going ahead with the proposed delimitation of the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in the district.

In a memorandum to the Gangapur tehsildar, former Maharashtra Minister of State Ashok Patil-Dongaonkar, and ex-MLAs Laxmanrao Patil-Manal and Kisanrao Patil Kasane have pointed out Manjri and Siddhawadgaon are located about 35 kilometres away from Vaijapur.

They have urged the Delimitation Commission of India (DCI) to include Lasur village, which presently falls in the Gangapur assembly segment, in the Vaijapur assembly constituency instead of Manjri and Siddhawadgaon.

The villagers have already submitted their objections before the DCI in the prescribed form. They would present their arguments before the DCI during the hearing scheduled to be held here tomorrow, Mr Ashok Patil-Dongaonkar said.
