500th overhaul MI 17 chopper handed over to IAF

Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) Air Marshal K S Chaturvedi, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, today released the 500th overhaul MI-17 helicopter which was produced by 3 Base Repair Depot (3 BRD)of the Air Force here.

He handed over the helicopter to Wing Commander K Allen, Commanding Officer of 127 helicopter unit at the 3 BRD, an official reelase here said.

The helicopter was manufactured in February 12,1987 and inducted in the IAF on February 28, 1987 after completing 2979.37 hours of flying.

Addressing the Air Force personnel on the occasion, he expressed happiness and congratulated them for their dedicated efforts. He appreciated the high standard set in by the Depot and other achievements of task within the stipulated period.

The professional competence and impacable record of the depot will be maintained and taken to grate height, he added.

The Air Marshal laid the foundation stone of Married Accommodation project at Sector 31 D, Chandigarh. This will be a major residential project and shall be taken up in two phases. The total cost of the project is Rs 61.46 crore and will be completed by December 2007.
