Girija Prasad Koirala to be sworn in as Nepal PM today

Kathmandu, Apr 30 (UNI) Nepal's Prime Minister-designate Girija Prasad Koirala is likely to be sworn in today.

Mr Koirala is scheduled to be sworn in by King Gyanendra at 1000 hrs (local time) at the Narayanhili Palace along with the small Council of Ministers unlikely to exceed 20, highly placed sources told UNI.

According to the sources, the Cabinet list, finalised by the Seven-Party Alliance, will comprise at least six members each from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.

There will be three members from the Nepali Congress (Democratic), one from the Nepal Sadbhavna Party (Anandi) and two from the Civil Society organisations. However, the Nepali Workers and Peasants Party and the Nepal Janmorcha will stay away from the Ministry, the sources said, adding they are likely to join the interim government in which Maoists will also participate.

According to sources, among the Cabinet probables is Mr K P Sharma Oli (CPN-UML), who will be sworn in as the Deputy Prime Minister and will be given charge of Home.

LDF will get majority: Cong(S)

Kannur, Kerala, Apr 30 (UNI) Congress(S) President Ramachandran Kadannappally today said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will get a comfortable majority in the Assembly elections. Dubai, Apr 30 (UNI) Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has said Tehran is ready to reach a ''fair agreement'' with New Delhi on the proposed gas pipeline project. Maoists meet attacked

Kathmandu, Apr 30 (UNI) Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) attacked on a peaceful Maoists mass meeting in Nawalparasi district yesterday, media reports said today. ''An RNA chopper rained bullets on the mass meet organised in the jungle adjoining a human settlement,'' Kantipur said in its online edition.
