Four arrested for attacking AIADMK functionary

Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) Four people were arrested for allegedly attacking an AIADMK functionary in Perambur area in the city.

Police said the incident occurred yesterday when the AIADMK functionaries, Palani and others, were campaigning in a car in support of the MDMK candidate Mahendran, who is contesting from Perambur constituency, Their vehicle collided with a two-wheeler, driven by one Balaji, which resulted in an altercation between Palani and Balaji.

Later, Balaji and his group attacked Palani with wooden logs and sickle.

Palani was admitted to the Government General Hospital here.

Based on a complaint, Michael (24), Ashok Kumar (21), Nagalingam (24) and Kandan (30) were arrested. Efforts were on to trace Balaji, Lingeswaran and Veera Previous enemity between Palani and Balaji was the reason behind the assault, police added.

Pravin-Mahajan's booked for cheating

Mumbai, May 1 (UNI) Pravin Mahajan, who shot at his brother and BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, was today booked for cheating and criminal breach of trust in another case under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code.
