US to restart visa services in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Apr 29 (UNI) With democracy finally returning to Nepal, the US announced that it would reopen its consular section and library here from Monday.

Both were closed on April 19 citing "unstable security conditions" after an embassy vehicle was stoned by protesters for venturing out during the 19-day protests called by demonstrators to press for the ouster of King Gyanendra and his government.

Nepali visa applicants who have scheduled interviews at the US Embassy in New Delhi before May 15 are encouraged to keep those appointments, the embassy said.

The Embassy in New Delhi will continue serving Nepali visa applicants from that date. After the Consular Section in Kathmandu was closed, Nepalis had been directed to apply for visas in New Delhi.

Brail facility for blind to vote

Pondicherry, Apr 29 (UNI) For the first time in the union territory, the election commission has introduced the brail facility to enable the blind to exercise their franchise in the May 8 Assembly Elections. A brail chart (dummy ballot paper) with the name and number of the candidate will be made available to blind and the number would be there on electronic voting machine to be used by the blind persons, district Election Commission.....

Dubai, Apr 30 (UNI) Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan believes that the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) movement will open new doors for Bollywood in various parts of the world and theindustry will successfully compete with Hollywood. Addressing the media in Dubai, Mr Bachchan said Hollywood films are the second largest items exported from the US after airplanes. Dubai Internet City to sign Smart City deal with new Kerala Gov
