Over Rs 1.60 crore spent for Gujjar and Bakerwal in Kashmir

Srinagar Apr 29 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has spend over Rs 1.60 crore on various development and welfare schemes for Gujjar and Bakerwal under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

According to District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Baseer Ahmed Khan Rs 22.50 lakh were spent for upgradation of Manzgam-Halan road, and construction of Chumgund and Waltengoo to Gujjar basti roads.

He said an amount of Rs 10 lakh stood expended under Horticulture sector covering 80 hectares of land for which 20,000 fruit plants, 96 quintals barbed wire and 3200 fencing polls were provided to 400 Gujjar and Bakerwals.

Under Animal and Sheep Husbandry sector 60 dairy units mini sheep farms were established involving an expenditure of Rs 15.84 lakh.

As many as, eight tribal social welfare cutting and tailoring centers were set up and 200 Gujjar and Bakerwal youth trained at an expenditure of Rs eight lakh while over Rs 35 lakh were spent on the construction of various land, drains, linkroads and toilets.

He said Rs 43 lakh were spent on construction of Bringi and Manter Guhan Canals under minor irrigation sector.

SSC yet to complete reconstruction of houses
