Monica Bedi files bail application in the Apex Court

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) Monica Bedi, 'wife' of mafia don Abbu Salem, today filed a bail application in the Supreme Court contending that she had already faced trial in 'fake passport' case in Portugal from where she was extradited to India.

She had earlier challenged Madhya Pradesh High Court order dated March 6, 2006 vide which her bail application was dismissed.

The starlet is seeking bail in a case pending trial in Bhopal for allegedly using fake passport to escape from India.

In all she is facing two cases under section 420/120 B IPC in Bhopal and Hyderabad.

Bedi who belongs to Punjab came in contact with Abu Salem during her modelling days. The mafia don inducted her in Bollywood but she failed to click.

The bail application will come up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday. Both the cases have been investigated by the CBI and the trial is underway.

Unaacounted assets worth Rs 22 cr seized in IT raids

Jaipur, Apr 29 (UNI) The Income Tax department has seized jewellery and unaccounted assets worth Rs 22 crore after raids on three prominent jeweller groups here. According to IT department, the raids conducted on houses, property and business establishments at 15 different places, revealed unaccounted for cash, jewellery and documents from six showrooms of a particular group. Major sex racket unearthed in Kashmir, politicians involved

Srinagar, Apr 29 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police have unearthed a major sex racket when they arrested three people, official sources said. They said some politicians, businessmen and senior security force and police officials are involved in the racket, in which more than 40 girls were being used for sex abuse and making blue films. Court issues summons to Advani on defamation case by Abhishek Verm

Gurgaon, Apr 29 (UNI) A city court today issued summons to former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on a defamation case filed by NRI businessman Abhishek Verma for allegedly calling him a 'middleman' in the multi-crore Scorpene submarine deal. Judicial Magistrate Raj Rani Gupta issued summons seeking Mr Advani's presence on July 17. Mr Verma claimed that the veteran BJP leader had made the allegations at a press conference at his residence on March.....
