MCX index closes 5.31 pts down at 2,364.99

Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded a turnover of Rs 1,508.08 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at Rs 2,364.99 down by 5.31 points (-0.23 per cent). MCX has recorded a turnover of Rs 1,508.08 crore while the total trades registered were 25,197.

The MCX metal index was down by 20.29 points (-0.74 per cent), while its agri index was up by 3.53 points (0.22 per cent). MCX energy index was also up by 0.82 points (0.82 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 1,150.56 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 384.31 crore and MCX silver Rs 766.26 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 15,439. The open interest for gold was 8,945 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 26,93,05 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 22.54 crore with 613 trades, while in the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 14.51 crore with open interest of 6,21,400 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows - urad registered a turnover of Rs 4.18 crore with 130 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 14.08 crore with 425 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 10.46 crore with 192 trades while masur registered a turnover of Rs 14.79 crore with 514 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 10.65 crore with 378 trades while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 72.04 crore with 2,921 trades.

Amongst the spices, MCX Cardamom registered a turnover of Rs 3.66 crore with 5.22 crore with 514 trades being recorded as against 603 trades on previous day. The outstanding open interest for MCX Cardamom was 103 MT as against its previous close was 102 MT.

MCX Cardamom (May 06) closed at Rs 233.10 up Rs 0.20 (0.09 per cent) MCX Cardamom (June 06) closed at Rs 233.30 up Rs 1.80 (0.77 per cent).

ICICI banks net profit rises 29 pc for Q4 FY 05-06

Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) Showing a tremendous growth in the total income, ICICI Bank's net profit increased by 29 per cent to Rs 790 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, (FY 2005-06) compared to Rs 615 crore for the Q4 (FY 04-05). Announcing the result, the company spokesperson told mediapersons here that the total income has also grown by 53 per cent to Rs 5591.71 crore for Q4 (FY 05-06) over 3637.54 crore.....

Amended FC(R) Act to boost commodity futures

Kolkata, Apr 29 (UNI) The amended Forward Contracts (Regulation) Act would support growth of commodity futures market in India, Forward Market Commission director K S Uma said today. The Act is presently before the Parliament for approval, she said. The proposed amendment would allow participation of FIIs, banks and mutual funds in the commodity futures thereby further boosting the trade, she said. Cola seeks tax holiday in MP

Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) Soft-drink major, Coca Cola, has sought tax holiday in Madhya Pradesh even in the VAT regime that came into force from April this year. ''Coca Cola was granted tax holiday in the state till 2009. But it came under tax net after Value Added Tax was introduced in April,'' company's Vice President T Krishna Kumar told Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur here yesterday and sought continuation of tax holiday. Mr Gaur said.....
