KPCC chief urges people to vote without fear

Kannur (Kerala), Apr 29 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala today urged the people of the Malabar region to come forward to fight violation of civic rights and anti-democratic tendencies.

Participating in a meet-the-Press programme of the Press Club, he called upon the people to exercise their franchise without any fear.

Mr Ramesh alleged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) had made poll pacts with communal forces to win the Assembly elections.

He said the secular-minded people would come out against such tie-ups and give a befitting reply in the elections.

Mr Ramesh said the United Democratic Front (UDF) Government, during its five years rule, had undertaken several development projects and implemented schemes for the welfare of the people.

He said because of its efforts, peace was restored in the State and the law and order situation improved.

The UDF Government has projected its development agenda and its main concern is the development of the State and welfare of all sections of the people.

He expressed the confidence that the UDF would win the elections and form the next government.

Thalassery witnesses tough fight

Second phase poll peacefull in Kerala, 70 per cent polling

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 29 (UNI) Barring a few minor incidents, the second phase of Assembly polls to elect 66 members from six central and northern districts of the state to the 140-member House, passed off peacefully today, with an estimated 70 per cent of the voters exercising their franchise.
