Kaithal leads in wheat procurement in Haryana

Kaithal, Apr 29 (UNI) Kaithal district remains ahead of all other districts in Haryana in wheat arrivals and procurement till date today in the ongoing season.

Giving this information to media persons here, Deputy commissioner B S Malik said that with wheat arrivals touching 4.62 lakh metric tonnes (MT) and the government agencies purchasing four lakh MT, this district remained at number one, followed by Karnal, where the arrivals had touched 4.32 lakh MT and government agencies purchased 3.48 lakh MT .

Fatehabad district was third with arrivals touching 3.88 lakh MT and government agencies procuring 3.12 lakh MT there.

Mr Malik said that during the current season in the beginning all the mandis and purchase centres were flooded with wheat stocks which initially affected the lifting of stocks but soon the situation was controlled and now about 95 per cent of the total arrivals had been lifted and the payment to farmers was being made expeditiously.

Centre sanctions Rs 22 cr for agriculture development in HP
