Inclement weather in UP claims three lives

Lucknow, Apr 29 (UNI) Rain accompanied by thunderstorm in the wee hours today claimed three lives across Uttar Pradesh.

Police Department sources said here three people were killed in a wall collapse triggered by inclement weather in the wee hours in Hardoi district today. Seven others were hurt in similar incidents.

Gusty winds and showers also wreaked havoc on many trees and mango crop in the state.

State Weather Department sources said here that a maximum of ten mm rain was recorded in Lucknow and Sultanpur, giving respite to the people from the scorching heat.

Meanwhile, central UP district of Jhansi stood hottest in the state at 43 degree celsius, while state capital recorded a maximum of 39 degrees.

Water problem easing

Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and public Relations, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the water problem has been easing in the state following good monsoon last year and the initiatives taken up by the state government. Briefing newsmen about the decisions of the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Shabbir said while 8,200 petitions were received in the 'Praja Padham' programme of the government.....

SSC yet to complete reconstruction of houses

Vijayawada, Apr 29 (UNI) The Social Service Centre (SSC) which offered contribution for construction of 2,000 houses to the tsunami victims is yet to complete the task. Talking to UNI, SSC Director P Balaswamy said the delay is due to non-availability of material and workforce. A survey conducted by the District administration revealed that tsunami rendered 3,821 families in 62 villages homeless in this district.
