Inclement weather in UP claims three lives

Lucknow, Apr 29 (UNI) Rain accompanied by thunderstorm in the wee hours today claimed three lives across Uttar Pradesh.

Police Department sources said here three people were killed in a wall collapse triggered by inclement weather in the wee hours in Hardoi district today. Seven others were hurt in similar incidents.

Gusty winds and showers also wreaked havoc on many trees and mango crop in the state.

State Weather Department sources said here that a maximum of ten mm rain was recorded in Lucknow and Sultanpur, giving respite to the people from the scorching heat.

Meanwhile, central UP district of Jhansi stood hottest in the state at 43 degree celsius, while state capital recorded a maximum of 39 degrees.

C'garh must get special package to deal with naxalism:Minister

Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Forest, Revenue and Culture Minister Brajmohan Agrawal today demanded that the Centre provide special package to Chhattisgarh for dealing with naxal menace considering it a national problem. Agreeing that there has been a spurt in naxal violence recently, Mr Agrawal told reporters here that common people had challenged the ultras by launching anti-naxal 'Salwa Judum' movement. Over Rs 1.60 crore spent for Gujjar and Bakerwal in Kashmir

Srinagar Apr 29 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has spend over Rs 1.60 crore on various development and welfare schemes for Gujjar and Bakerwal under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. According to District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Baseer Ahmed Khan Rs 22.50 lakh were spent for upgradation of Manzgam-Halan road, and construction of Chumgund and Waltengoo to Gujjar basti roads. Water problem easing

Hyderabad, Apr 29 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and public Relations, Mr Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the water problem has been easing in the state following good monsoon last year and the initiatives taken up by the state government. SSC yet to complete reconstruction of houses

Vijayawada, Apr 29 (UNI) The Social Service Centre (SSC) which offered contribution for construction of 2,000 houses to the tsunami victims is yet to complete the task.
