Fire at Connaught Place hotel, no one injured

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) A minor fire today broke out at Hotel Hamilton Court in Connaught Place area here.

Fire Brigade sources said the fire was brought under control within half-an-hour. No one was injured.

The fire broke out in the hotel's air conditioning plant at about 1130 hrs.

Three fire tenders doused the blaze by 1200 hrs.

Mother, son run over by train

Purulia (West Bengal), Apr 29 (UNI) A woman and her son were run over by Kharagpur bound Hatia-Kharagpur passenger train at an unmanned level crossing near Jhalda in Purulia district. The incident occurred about 50 kms from Purulia town, South Eastern Railways station manager in Purulia S Majumdar said yesterday. Chouhan to perform Kanyadan, Vigil to check child marriages in MP

Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch his pet project ''Deendayal Antyodaya Mission'' by performing ''Kanyadan'' of 251 poor tribal girls in Mandla district tomorrow. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh would join Mr Chouhan in the 'Kanyadan'' at the mass marriage organised at Sijhoura village. Under the programme, the government would provide Rs 5,000 each for the marriage ceremony and another Rs 1,000 for purchasing household goods to each.....

Badwani (MP), Apr 29 (UNI) Police have registered cases against 20 people, including Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activists, for obstructing official work when a government team visited villages affected by the Sardar Sarovar Project yesterday. Two women succumbed to injuries

Jalandhar, Apr 29 (UNI) Two women passengers, who were injured seriously in a fire on board the Punjab Roadway bus at the city bus stand here yesterday, died in Ludhiana today even as 13 other injured were being treated at hospitals. A report from Ludhiana quoting hospital sources said that Mrs Bhagwanti(68) and Mrs Sukhwinder Rani(40) succumbed to their injuries at the CMC Hospital, Ludhiana today.
