Eight soldiers killed in Nepal explosion

Kathmandu, Apr 29 (UNI) Eight soliders were killed and over half a dozen injured in an explosion in western Nepal today, media reports here said.

The soldiers were hit by the explosion while digging a defence trench at Bhairabh Prasad Battalion in Gulmi district in western Nepal, Kantipur radio quoted local security officials.

It is said that the attack has nothing to do with the Maoist rebels but occurred due to the negligence of the army personnel.

After the reinstatement of the House last week by King Gyanendra at the height of popular movement against his rule, the Maoists have declared three months unilateral ceasefire to clear the way for the declaration of Constituent Assmbly election, one of the major demands of the rebels.

China to deliver JF-17s to Pakistan next year

Islamabad, Apr 29 (UNI) China will deliver the first small batch of JF-17 (Thunder) aircraft to Pakistan early next year, officials here said today. The serial production of a batch of JF-17s is to commence in China by June-July after a successful testflight of the fourth prototype of the aircraft was conducted in Chengdu yesterday, the officials added. Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will start serial production of the aircraft in the country from June.....

Opposition rejects BNP-proposed negotiators, threatens agitation

Dhaka, Apr 29 (UNI) The proposed dialogue between the Bngladesh Government and the opposition on electoral reforms suffered a jolt as the 14-party combined opposition led by Awami League rejected the panel of negotiators appointed by the government as ''mockery'', and vowed to realise their demands through street agitation. The opposition said the Government put organisations like Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic Oikya Jote (IOJ) on the panel whom they had refused beforehand to sit with.....
