Cricket costs Sreesanth his voting right in Kerala

Kochi, Apr 29 (UNI) Team India spearhead S Sreesanth today could not exercise franchise in the second phase of Kerala assembly elections.

He missed out on the opportunity as he could not register himself as a voter earlier owing to his preoccupations in bringing laurels to the country in the gentlman's game.

The 23-year-old pacer did not vote because his name did not figure in the electoral rolls in his home constituency Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district, where polling is being held.

'Between playing matches and everything, I just could not go and register (as a voter),' he told UNI over phone from Bangalore, where he is on a visit.

However, he said, the rest of his family, including his mother, father and brother, would vote.

Bush praises Iraqi leaders for resisting threats

Chennai, Apr 29 (UNI) The ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK will have a tough tussle in the minority-dominated Alandur Assembly constituency in Kancheepuram district with the electorate's loyalty almost equally distributed between the two parties. The constituency is semi-urban, with a total voter strength of 4,39,677 including 2,17,276 women. Egypt government seeks two years of emergency law
