Cong fires another salvo against BJP on poll code violation

Bhopal, Apr 29 (UNI) Firing another salvo against the ruling BJP, the Madhya Pradesh Congress today alleged that Sehore district panchayat Chief Executive Officer K C Jain has violated the model of conduct by initiating work of Rs one crore in the election-bound Budhni Assembly Constituency.

In his complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer, Congress General Secretary Manak Agrawal sought action against the officer, saying the construction work were carried out to influence the electorate in favour of BJP candidate.

He also demanded action against Mr Chouhan for attempting to influence the voters by misusing his official position.

Mahajan undergoes another surgery

Mumbai, Apr 29 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, who is on dialysis and life support, underwent another surgical procedure today. A team of surgeons conducted 'tracheotomy' at Hinduja hospital to make Mr Mahajan's breathing easier. Kochi, Apr 29 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju, Justice V R Krishna Iyer and Major Archbishop Cardinal Varki Vithayathil were among those who made it to the polling booths early in Ernakulam district today. Voting for the second phase of the assembly elections in 14 constituencies of the district began on a slow note this morning but picked up pace as the day progressed. Test shows no bird flu, 5000 birds died of starvation

Chandigarh, Apr 29 (UNI) A diagnostic test has indicated that there was no bird flu or contagious disease behind the death of 5000 chickens in Panchkula district of Haryana. Panic gripped the district after the news spread about the death of over 5,000 birds in a poultry farm in Kami village of the Barwala area yesterday. Mahajan's dependence on BP drugs again comes down

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) The drug dose to stabilise the blood pressure of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan has again started gradually coming down after yesterday's surgery by a team of Indian and British doctors in the Hinduja hospital here, while his condition remained ''critical but stable'' on day 9 of the treatment for grievous gunshot injuries.
