Centre condemns killing of tribals in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) The Centre today strongly condemned the killing of 15 tribals by naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, saying suchbarbaric acts are against all norms of democratic society.

A spokesman of the Ministry of Home Affairs said the Centre had asked the state government to contain such inhumane and senseless act of violence. The administration has also been asked to intensify search and combing operations in areas to apprehend the naxalites responsible for the killing of people they had taken as hostages a few days ago.

The Centre is in contant touch with the state government and closely monitoring the situation, the spokesman added.

The bodies of 13 tribals in the 18-35 year age group were found lying this morning on the roadside and nearby areas at the remote Manikonta village on Sukma-Konta road, police said. Two people were hacked to death on Tuesday itself.

More than 50,000 tribals were housed in different relief camps opened by the state government in Dantewada district after the anti-naxal campaign 'Salwa Judum' was launched in June last. The tribals, caught in the hostilities between ultras and security forces, have deserted their villages and taken shelter in camps.

Jogi demands repeal of Public Security Act

Raipur, Apr 29 (UNI) Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi today demanded repeal of the newly enacted Special Public Security Act, saying it was a draconian law. ''This legislation has every potential to be misused,'' the Congress leader told reporters here. Replying to a question, Mr Jogi admitted the opposition Congress did not protest against the legislation as was required against any such draconian law. He said the people of Chhattisgarh would raise their voice.....

Unaacounted assets worth Rs 22 cr seized in IT raids

Jaipur, Apr 29 (UNI) The Income Tax department has seized jewellery and unaccounted assets worth Rs 22 crore after raids on three prominent jeweller groups here. According to IT department, the raids conducted on houses, property and business establishments at 15 different places, revealed unaccounted for cash, jewellery and documents from six showrooms of a particular group. The raids have been going for the past two days here. The sources said around Rs 6.5.....

Major sex racket unearthed in Kashmir, politicians involved

Srinagar, Apr 29 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police have unearthed a major sex racket when they arrested three people, official sources said. They said some politicians, businessmen and senior security force and police officials are involved in the racket, in which more than 40 girls were being used for sex abuse and making blue films. Giving details, the sources said some local residents lodge a complaint with the Shaheedgunj in the old city alleging that.....
