BJP leader predicts mid-term poll

Pondicherry, Apr 29(UNI) BJP leader and former Union Minister S Thirunavukkarasar today predicted a mid-term poll to the Parliament following which the BJP would capture power.

Undertaking electioneering in ten constituencies here, Mr Thirunavukkarasar said the days of the Manmohan Singh Government are being counted, since the Left would withdraw support at any time.

Exhorting the electorate to exercise their franchise in favour of the BJP candidates in the Union Territory, Mr Thirunavukkarasar reminded them that the BJP was in power at nine states and formed the Central Government thrice.

He also listed out the achievements of the Vajpayee Government and added that the BJP Government only laid the foundation to declare Tamil a Classical Language.

He promised that Pondicherry would be made a number one tourist centre, if the BJP was voted to power.

Indian injured in the movement against King, dies

Kathmandu, May 1 (UNI) An Indian national, who was injured in the firing by the security forces during the pro-democracy agitation, died in hospital. Mohammad Jahangir, 35, was admitted at Model Hospital after he was injured on April 21 in Tripureshwor. Fresh blasts kill six civilians, naval sailor in Lanka's east

Colombo, May 1 (UNI) At least seven people, including six civilians, were killed and eight more wounded in two separate claymore mine explosions in Sri Lanka's restive eastern province this morning, military sources here said.
