BDO arrested for misappropriation of govt fund

Agartala, Apr 29 (UNI) The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Kanchanpur In Tripura's North district has been arrested in connection with alleged misappropriation of government fund.

Official sources said here today BDO, Khagendra Reang, of Dasda Block had been missing soon after the scam came to light after the inquiry report by the Rural Development Department.

A case was filed against him on April 27 last year in connection with the misappropriation of about Rs 41 lakh government fund.

Since then the officer had been absconding.

He came to his brother-in-law's house at Kanpui three days ago.

On a tip-off, Kanchanpur Police Station officer in-charge Pradyut Datta along with a team of police force raided the Kanpui village and arrested Mr Reang.

He was sent to police remand for seven days by the SDJM court of Dharmanagar, the sources added.

Another farmer commits suicide in Punjab

Bathinda, Apr 29 (UNI) A 65-year-old farmer, Niranjan Singh, who was in heavy debt, committed suicide by consuming sulphos tablets in Burj Kahansingh Wala village in the district today. According to police, a suicide note recovered from the deceased stated that he had been under a heavy debt of Rs 4.8 lakh. Four faction zones to be set up in Rayalaseema districts

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, April 29(UNI)Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Mr Swaranjeet Sen today said four monitoring zones would be set up in the four districts of the faction-ridden Rayalaseema region.
