33KV outdoor substation installed in Bhiwani district

Chandigarh, Apr 29 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has constructed a first of its own kind outdoor 33 KV substation at village Serla in Bhiwani district in a record time of one and a half month after starting the work at a cost of Rs 75 lakh.

Informing this here today, a DHBVN spokesman said that a transformer of 5 MVA capacity had been setup and commissioned at the substation which would get power through Jui-Behal transmission line of 33 KV level. He stated that in the traditional substations, the Power Utilities had to construct a building for setting up control room in which Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB) and panels were installed. He maintained that in the open air substation, no such buildings were required and the civil works were reduced considerably.

He informed that the new type of substation was found to be safer in comparison to the substations constructed with traditional technology. He asserted that the chances of short circuiting were minimal in case of an outdoor substation as the construction did not require much cable work. Since the new substation had no component run on oil, the danger of fire breakage was also minimum, he added.

The spokesman said that with the commissioning of new 33 KV substation, over 1000 consumers including 400 tubewells would get the benefit of improved voltage and regular power supply. He said that the villages in the region were earlier getting power from Behal substation. The villages falling under the command area of Behal substation would also be indirectly benefited with the relaxation in the load at the substation. The villages that would be directly benefited would include Bidhnoi, Dhani Kunra, Gokulpura, Serla and Noonsar. These villages would get power supply through three different 11 KV feeders to emanate from the new substation, he added.
