Writs against cancellation of BTC Exam 2001 dismissed

Allahabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today dismissed several writ petitions filed against the October 20, 2005 Uttar Pradesh Government Order (GO) cancelling the BTC Examination 2001.

The court clarified that candidates, who had taken the 2001 exam, will be permitted to take the BTC re-examination.

However, the court observed that passing of the order will not prevent UP from undertaking subsequent BTC Exam 2005 or any other examination in this respect.

The order was passed by Justice V K Shukla on a writ petition filed by Vinod Kumar Yadav and others.

Following investigation, some irregularities were found and the secretary basic education on October 20, 2005 on a vigilance report had cancelled the BTC Exam 2001.

Lakhs of students were affected by the cancellation order.

The petitioners had challenged the cancellation order and prayed to quash the same.
