UltraTech posts net profit of Rs 82 cr

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Aditya Birla group company UltraTech Cement Limited has posted a net sales of Rs 1,022 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, as against Rs 696 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal, said a release here today.

The company's net profit incresaed steeply to Rs 82 crore as against Rs 5 crore while its gross profit stood at Rs 177 crore as against Rs 87 crore for the corresponding period last year.

During this period, the company produced 3.69 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cement as against 3.42 MMT for the same period last fiscal, stated the release, adding that the company operated at 100 per cent this quarter.
