Two injured in indiscriminate firing by gunmen in north Kashmir

Pattan, Baramulla, Apr 24 (UNI) Two persons were injured when a group of gunmen, travelling in a car, resorted to indiscriminate firing at the main market near here, during polling.

Eyewitnesses told a visiting UNI correspondent that a group of gunmen in a car fired indiscriminately, injuring two persons. The injured were hospitalised.

Later, security forces and State Task Force (SRF) personnel chased the car, proceeding towards Srinagar. The identity of the assailants was however, not immediately known.

Traffic on the road was suspended and reinforcements rushed from nearby camps.

Five injured in clash between two groups

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) A clash between two groups in Old City resulted in injuries to five persons and mild tension in Mangalhat area last night. Police said a group of unidentified persons attacked a autorickshaw in which a 20-year-old girl and her brother were going to a hospital. When the boy tried to resist their attempts, the culprits inflicted stab injuries and fled from the scene. The attackers were suspected to be from Jihrra.....

Ganja seized weighing 35 kg in city

Chennai, Apr 24 (UNI) Police seized 35 kgs of ganja from a locked house of a hotel employee in Choolaimedu area in the city today. Police said, on a tip off, a police party broke in to the house and seized the stock. Enquiries revealed that Mrs Karuppayaee (60) of Cumbum and her friend Mrs Vannakili (35) had smuggled the contraband from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh TO sell it in the local market.
