To foray into export launches Premium Architectural Lighting Range

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Riding on its success in Commercial and Institutional segment, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting(C&L), the FMCG business of Wipro Limited today show cased the premium range of architectural lighting to meet the requirements of booming Retail sector in India even as it planning to capture the markets abroad.

Claiming that it was the ''first'' lighting company in India to launch a comprehensive range of lighting effects in workshpaces.

the products were showcased at Wipro lighting's premium event the annual ''Light Show'' to the eminent architects and builders in Hyderabad today.

It also showcased the architectural lighting range of fixtures along with the advanced lighting control systems and LED based fixtures, and other Brightness Management products.

Company Chief Executive - C and I Business Mr Raajesh Kochhar told the media here the group was targetting IT-ITES, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Education and Marketing institutions in Hyderabad.

With its third lighting unit coming up alongside the Soap-fatty acid plant in Himachal Pradesh by the year end, the company is looking at improving its market base. The company posted Rs 600 crore from C C and I business last year and was doing a ''pilot'' in Middle East to foray into the export market.

20 per cent vote polled in Patna (west) by-election

Patna, Apr 24 (UNI) An estimated 20 per cent voters turned out to exercise their franchise in the by-election for Patna (West) Assembly constituency that ended peacefully today. State election office said about 20 per cent of the total 512,506 voters, including 220,438 women, turned out to vote. The political fate of 13 candidates, including BJP's Nitin Navin and Ajay Kumar Singh of this Cong was sealed in the EVMs. The polling was peaceful and incident.....

Jaya in multi-cornered contest in Andipatti

Theni, Tamil Nadu, Apr 24 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa is among 16 candidates left in the fray for Andipatti constituency in Theni district, which goes to the polls on May eight Forward Bloc nominee Pon Murugan and two independents withdrew their papers today, the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Earlier, the papers of three candidates were rejected after scrutiny. In a dramatic development, Pon Murugan joined the AIADMK.....

Setback to Doha Round ; April 30 deadline going to be missed

Hannover, April 24 (UNI) The Doha Development Round of the World Trade Organisation has suffered a severe blow with the crucial players including the G-20 and the developed countries like the US and the EU missing the April 30 deadline for completing the modalities for concluding the deal. "The April 30 deadline is not happening. That is clear,Ғ Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath told reporters here on the sidelines of the Hannover 2006.....
